Hope’s Closet.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of business! So many things, from moving house to adoption stuff and ministry stuff, its been all go and now that I have a few moments to write I thought I’d let you in on our latest venture.

A number of years ago I had the idea of opening our own charity/thrift store as a way of supporting the work that we were doing with orphans. Nothing ever came of it and I put the idea on the back shelf ¬†and didn’t really think about it again.

We have some super amazing friends who own a shop that sells high quality leather goods and clothing. They were moving premises and had a spare room in their new shop. They had been praying as to how they could help us as a family to gain a larger income and for my ministry with the homeless girls and children. God gave them the idea of a charity shop! They came to me and the idea of Hope’s Closet was born. For the past weeks we have been juggling life so that we could make this dream a reality and as of now Hope’s Closet is up and running! And I will say it is AMAZING!!!

The concept is so simple. Women donate their gently used clothing, shoes and accessories and we sell them to the public. The profits are used to run Shelter Me.

We went for a cozy vintage vibe that encourages people to take their time and enjoy the shopping experience. I have had a few sales and when advertising starts I’m convinced that this is going to be a popular place for the women in our community to shop and to donate!

If you live in the Durban area and are looking for a great outfit at a fantastic price, or if you have items that you can donate please contact me at sheltermedurban@gmail.com
